introduction of the project supported by the International Visegrad Fund and the European Commission
The project tasks are the presentation of architectural heritage of the former Torna County's two of the largest settlements - Bódvaszilas and Tornagörgő (Hrhov). The two villages adjacent to each other, the state border runs between them. Cultural heritage of them has not been presented, so our aim is to present it by the traditional way, publications and boards.
The villages' medieval monuments are also known, such as the shrine of the Roman Catholic church in Tornagörgő and the fort wall around the church in Bódvaszilas. Most of the architectural monuments of the settlements date back to the18th century. We can mention among the baroque and neoclassical buildings the Reformed Church, the manorial granary and the Esterházy-Koós Castle in Bódvaszilas and the Reformed Church in Tornagörgő. The country house (folkloric house) and the Greek Catholic chapel in Bódvaszilas were made in the 20th century.
Cultural heritage of these settlements has not been presented, so we want to make this presentation by the traditional way, publications and boards. The boards will be set up in the village with full of the cultural attractions to show, on the other hand, a separate board will be made for each memory device. The publications also offer a comprehensive overview, presented to the general cultural values, on the other hand, the memory of each building is presented separately.
The target group is the visitors arriving at the villages. We can indicate the number of about 3000-4000 people per year (per settlement). Since both villages are tourist destination, we can count on such a relatively large number. In addition, it is important to the locals all to feel ownership of the cultural heritage, making them the target groups of the project, among them the members of the local communities accepting the heritage protection (NGO) and students are crucial importance.
